How can I make a locket photo from my dotphoto photos?
How can I make a locket photo from my dotphoto photos?
Locket photos tend to be small and square, so the first thing to do is measure the locket.
The best images are printed at 300 dots per inch, so the pixel size of your locket dimension is 300 times the size in inches. Let's say your locket photo needs to be 3/4 x 3/4 inches. 3/4 x 300 dots is 225x225. We'll come back to the pixel size in a moment.
Now we want to create a square image for the locket. You're probably using a face, and, since this is a very small photo, you'll probably want to crop tightly around the face. See the example below.
Tap your photo, then the pencil icon (Edit) in the upper left corner. Choose Cropping and then the Square crop tool. Drag the corners of the tool until you have the image you want. Save this image as a new image so don't overwrite your original photo.
Now find the new photo in your album. Click on it, choose the pencil icon again, and choose Re-size. Set the width to 225 or whatever pixel size you have calculated for the width and height of you locket. Tap the Apply button in the upper right, and save as the same image.Â
Printing your final image
If you're printing your locket photos at home, you can copy and paste the final image right off the screen to print.
If you're printing at dotphoto, you'll need to create a 4x6 and paste this and any other small images into it before uploading and printing on dotphoto. Here is an excellent free graphics program you can download: http://www.irfanview.com/
You can also download the free blank 4x6 file attached to this FAQ.
Paste the locket images from your dotphoto screen the 4x6, and upload the final file to dotphoto. You can now print a small collection of locket images on dotphoto for the price of a single 4x6.
